Vista Service Pack 1, fixing Windows by breaking oher programs.

If you listened to Episode 34 of That Computer Show, you may have heard me go on and on about… Jiangmin KV Antivirus! Well, I talked about a number of other apps as well… but Jiangmin KV Antivirus was one of the applications broken by Vista Service Pack 1. This was done intentionally by Microsoft because those apps were apparently already foiling people’s Windows experiences. Welcome to my robot lair of doom, said the spider to the fly…

Ok, so on today’s fast and furious episode of That Computer Show we talked about the impending Robot War… It’s coming, and between you, me, and Sarah Connor I’m not sure what scares me more, a giant mechanical robot spider, or a swarm of tiny robo-flies. Vista Service Pack 1 did NOT Break my computer!

Ok… so I boot up today, and notice a little windows update notification. A new update is being downloaded? Hmmm *rubs chin*.

Whatever could it be? Could it be… no… really? Could it be…… Windows Vista Service Pack 1? Yep, that’s right. It’s available for machines though Windows Update. Kindof cool… but what about all those reports of service pack 1 breaking people’s computers? We reported on it a few shows back. So… What happened when I installed it on my beautiful MianoVision 1205-BRD?
