It’s been out for a while now… but I’m just now getting around to trying it. Tivo, the universe’s favorite DVR has updated its TivoToGo software, enabling me to pull the Season premiere of Heroes to my Laptop, so Chris can see it. (He missed it last week, and while he cabn always catch it online, I saw this as a chance to try out the news software.) I still need my Media Access Key, Tivo’s attempt to keep pirates at bay “Arrrrrr,” but the install went smoothly…

We’ve been getting hammered at the store and at the radio show about people acidentally downloading rogue or fake antivirus programs. These apps infect your computer, posing as legitimate software. I’m posting a few links to legitimate vendors of free, or paid antivirus software. The general rule is “nothing is free.” 2 exceptions to this rule are the free version of AVG, and Spybot Seach and Destroy. One is a great free anti-virus app, the other is one of the best anti-spyware apps I’ve seen. So here you are… these are safe, I’ve checked them myself. Click below to get a list of our picks.

We spoke today about viruses and malware, and how there’s a growing threat from evil software posing as real helpful apps. The CORRECT place to download Spybot Seach and Destroy, one of the best anti-spyware apps out there, can be found at www.safer-networking.org.
The latest verion is 1.5. Check it out, this software does no harm, and we use it at that computer store to help eradicate nasties from our customers PCs. Check it out!
